War Walkers

The War Walkers were the first real test of magnetising. The weapons are magnetised so you can change weapons as army lists, meta-game and rules change. Far better than constantly buying new models.

I've used the same technique on the weapons for the War Walkers, the Guardian Weapons Platform and the Wraithlord so they're all interchangeable:
All three use the same magnetised weapon mount
The mounts are made from a pin in the front of the existing slot mount, here paperclips are best, and a 3mm diameter, 1mm depth magnet in a drilled out recess in the back of the slot. The pin helps to locate the weapon and stop it being knocked off sideways. On the weapons themselves the same is done but without the pin, with a 2mm diameter magnet and the opening is widened for easy mounting:

Weapons hold on with a magnet and a locator pin
The bases are also magnetised to the feet. This is for convenience of storage as this way 4 War Walkers can fit in a half height, half width KR Multicase tray. 3mm magnets and suitably long pins give reasonable stability. I've done similarly for Imperial Guard Sentinels and a Wraithlord.
